![]() A Halloween Special Event Station was operated on October 31, 2009 in northeast Louisiana near the Mississippi river. The event was put on by the North Louisiana Amateur Radio Emergency Service Foundation. Head quarters is located in West Monroe, Louisiana. This event was to recognize the town of Transylvania and their water tower. It is known around the world for the Transylvania bat. Also there are no ham radio operators located in East Carroll Parish. This was an opportunity for county hunters to catch a rare parish. Operating frequencies were around 3.960, 7.260, 14.260, 21.360, 146.520, and 50.125 Mhz. Time was between 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight. Kevin set up the ARES tower and had the ARES van at the location. He had the tower set at 70 feet. V-2000 Tri-band antenna on top and a Tri-band A4S HF beam on a Ham IV Rotator 80,40,20 meter dipole antenna hanging on the left side at 60 feet. A 20 meter double Bazooka was in the tree behind the van at 25 feet. Event Operators were Kevin W5KGT, Carlos KB5YEG, Wade KE5HTG, Mack KA5JNL, Jesse N5JJH, BT N5EXS, Jake KE5DJB, and Dale N9KGF. We want to Thank the East Carroll Transylvania Water System Inc. for letting us put this event on their property.
